Hanami Japanese Restaurant in Clinton

My boyfriend and I live in town and we love this place so much. Sushi is absolutely delicious and the servers are very friendly! We go at least every other week.

Expensive specialty rolls for subpar quality. Avoid the smoked salmon it tastes like lidocaine. Take some extra time and check out iron chef in wallingford, cheaper and better tasting rolls. I didnt no the hibachi so cant rate that.

My experience was good until we ended up paying for employees argued with me about my bill very upset with this service I have never been treated so poorly in my life anywhere after spending over 500 dollars with a 200 dollar tip I will never be back DO NOT GO HERE!!!!

Always great . Sushi very fresh and plated nicely. I do miss the pineapple after dinner . The staff and service is very good

Great family restaurant on the Shoreline! Incredible Sushi and Japanese Hibachi

Everything was just okay. Need to update the seating and make it a little more comfortable. The smell from the hibachi room permeates out into the eating area and you go home smelling like fried food. So if you go when they're not having a hibachi it will be a much better experience if you like to eat sushi at the sushi bar sushi is decent not the best I've had but definitely not the worst.

Food and value here are good. We have been quite a few times. Though never for hibachi. The ambiance leaves quit a bit to be desired, it feels like eating in a cafeteria more than a cozy dining experience. I think it's a combination of the seating all exposed to everyone else (you have yo listen to every conversation around you) and the lighting.

Food was your standard Americanized Japanese food, it was tasty and the service was prompt with the wait staff being friendly and attentive.

Good sushi, Great miso, good price. I will have to go back some time for the steak. Also, their hibachi grill is hidden in the kitchen. What fun is that?

A bit pricy but worth every penny. The tuna sushi was incredibly fresh, definitely the best I've had in the area! Large portions of fish, not too much rice in the sushi

The appetizers were really good, but the teriyaki chicken was surprisingly bland. The service wasn’t particularly great, my boyfriend wanted a refill and she never checked on us. The waitress barely came by except to take plates away, and when we paid with a big bill they decided to keep all the change and not return the extra money. (We were going to tip regardless, but not the full amount that should’ve been returned to us). Rather annoying to assume we were going to tip 25+% when we received poor service.

So fun and great food.

The tuna is great. Nice dark red cuts. A lot of sushi rolls with a local blend soft shell crab. A bit pricey, but on par for the area's prices.

Best sushi on the Shoreline. Fresh and clean. The hibachi is super fun and delicious. The staff is friendly and very accommodating to dietary needs. Love it!

Not a good experience. Went to the hibachi for my daughters 21st birthday celebration. They would not serve her. The manager said that she couldn't because you have to be 21 plus one day. That may have been the most ridiculous thing I ever heard. Needless to say, it put a damper on her party. Also, the place isn't very clean and they are not very friendly. We won't be back. 21 plus one day? Really? Get your facts straight.

My favorite restaurant to eat at in Clinton. Their food is high quality and the best time to try them out is at lunch which saves a bit on your wallet. My two complaints for the 4 star rating would be that the owners continually raise their prices which is something that can't be sustained in a working-class town like Clinton. Second, their servers are not the friendliest. However, their food is just that yummy that I overlook those issues!

Excellent!!! Best miso soup, the quality of the fish outstanding. The creative selection of rolls fills 2 pages on the menu. Outstanding value and prices. Friendly and great service. If you are looking for a wonderful Japanese meal you will have it here.

Food was over priced for the quality. Paid over 20 dollars for 3 rolls of sushi that wasnt even that great. Definitely better options around, not the worst though.

Hard to find place but you will be handsomely rewarded once you find it. Trying though cucumber rolls and these salmon rolls, they were very , Very easy parking and decent prices. It's near the beach so try to take your order and go to the water. The miso soup tasted delicious and it will make you feel like you are in Japan.

Great place for a meal or to go. Their lunch special is an amazing deal.

Always enjoy my visits to Hanami. The lunch bento box my favorite: salmon, with sushi, miso soup, salad with ginger dressing a bargain at $10. Staff is swift and kind. Loved the warm wood ambiance but the pickled oak 'improverment' might appeal to some. The food is always fresh.

It looks like a nice establishment but there was very bad service I had too keep asking for the waitress since they never came to the table, very awkward when speaking too you. Food was okay. The bill was 57 dollars I gave 70 and waited for them to bring back my change... 15 minutes later I ask about the rest of my money and they said they thought it was a tip and decided too keep it. Didnt feel like arguing since it was already very awkward. I would not come back it was not a great experience.

The sushi here is really solid and their lunch specials are super affordable. They also come with soup AND salad, which most places don't do. The hibachi is really fun for a group.

chirashi was VERY impressive and outstanding for the price. will definitely go back again.

Food is great always top notch. However they're social and atmosphere gives them a 4 star review. Last time I went in there was no music then they proceeded to play lullaby music. Multiple other customers said it was awkward with no music. Plus they have there telephone which rings very loudly for everyone to hear in the middle of dinner. I overheard other customers saying the telephone was rather annoying. Dont get me wrong. Food is great. Just not the best atmosphere but would still recommend

Stayed for one night in Clinton and went to Hanami for dinner, good pricing for very good sushi, nice location and considerate service. We can just recommend the restaurant as sushi lovers and as a variety to standard American food.

Enjoyed the Sunshine Roll and kids always love the Hibachi experience. Staff is courteous and service is quick.

Best sushi restaurant on the East Shore. Been around for quite a while so you know it's quality. If they have the white tuna sashimi , it is the 1. I always tried to get the daily specials as they are often One of a Kind hits. The last one was tuna tartare. Killer!

Best local shoreline sushi outside of New Haven. Consistently fresh fish.

Best sushi east of Greenwich, imo.
